The Reform UK leader Claims Educators of ‘Indoctrinating Children’ on Racial Topics
The political figure stated that educators would initiate walkouts shortly after a Reform UK election victory, accusing them of “poisoning our kids” by instructing students that African-Caribbean youth are oppressed and Caucasian students are perpetrators.
At a gathering for a private US Christian college, the politician expressed his viewpoint on British schools, claiming that the “radical left-wing” had “now in control of our education system”.
“I expect a teachers’ strike soon after winning the next general election,” Farage commented in response to questions.
“They are corrupting young minds. They are telling them to feel guilt about their nation. They are telling an eight-year-old black child that he is oppressed and a white child of the same age that he is a perpetrator. They are dividing us, not uniting us. They are feeding this harmful mindset.”
Reacting to these assertions, Daniel Kebede rejected the notion that the education system was controlled by Marxists as “nonsense”. Kebede noted that industrial action must relate to educators’ working conditions, and questioned whether the party would target these immediately upon entering government.
“The politician has crafted his political career on dog-whistle politics and currently, like Trump, he is targeting educators and their unions for a fight,” the union leader said.
“I think that’s grossly irresponsible. I don’t – and nor does my union – push critical race theory as he claims … Should he become prime minister he would undermine state services, particularly schooling … and he would be a disaster for education and children.”
Reform, which tops surveys by about 10 points, has provided limited specifics on its educational plans and seems not to have appointed an education spokesperson.
However, his comments suggested the party would overhaul the educational framework. Farage declared: “We have got a massive job with schooling – absolutely herculean. And, it won’t happen quickly; it will take us years, years to turn this around.”
He stated that younger generations are receptive to analytical thought, but older youth were “completely lost”.
Paying tribute to a conservative activist, he commented: “My goal for schooling is to teach critical thinking – to instruct people that there are two points of view and they should decide for themselves as opposed to current practices where views are labeled good or bad. This is a huge undertaking in both Britain and America.”
Reform has previously clashed with the UK’s largest teaching union, after the union leader labeled them “extremist and prejudiced” and described the leader as “a poundshop Donald Trump”.
Farage has accused the union head with being “an avowed radical” … someone who is absolutely determined that young minds be corrupted at school, their thinking tainted regarding national issues” and maintained that the organization seeks to brainwash youth opposed to his party.
Almost one million people work in schools in the UK, about half of whom are teachers and the remainder being assistants and administrative personnel. The leading teachers’ organization has about 450,000 members.
National strikes over educators’ salaries and work environment in recent years led to significant interruptions in educational institutions and millions of days of lost learning for children.
At the US event, the Reform leader also vowed to promote the online educational material of the Christian college in the UK. He said organizations like it were “key to resistance”, noting: “I am serious. I will help attract vast numbers of young people to these educational programs. I pledge this now and I’ll do that.”
The institution, a religious educational establishment, offers free courses. According to its online description: “A scientific, literary, theological, political, and moral education is necessary for personal happiness and to maintain the benefits of civil and religious liberty. It offers these excellent programs for free to every interested learner.”
