Tom Clancy's The Division Is Coming to the Tabletop as a Deeply Strategic Tabletop Role-Playing Game

The intense universe from Tom Clancy’s The Division is being adapted into a tabletop role-playing experience. A partnership was established to create a tabletop RPG that explores the franchise’s apocalyptic setting. The project has been announced, with a crowdfunding campaign scheduled to begin in April of 2026.

"This project will bring the franchise’s distinctive tension, strategic depth, and memorable setting to the tabletop, providing fans a fresh avenue to experience The Division through deep narrative and mission-based gameplay," reads an announcement.

Initial offerings are set to feature a starter set, essential manuals, a Game Master screen, miniatures, and various premium versions.

Exploring The Division's Dystopian World

In this universe, a lethal pathogen known as Green Poison was unleashed in New York City, sending the nation into turmoil. As the crisis escalates, society crumbles and hostile groups emerge, transforming the urban landscape into a battlefield. To preserve law and order, the authorities {activate|deploy] The Division, a covert network of sleeper agents. That’s where the agents come in.

Work on the game has been in progress for approximately several years, and it is reportedly finished. The forthcoming crowdfunding effort will serve as a pre-launch sales platform to access a wider audience, particularly in the United States. Production will start right after the campaign, with shipping expected for the latter part of 2026.

A Streamlined Tactical System: The GRIS System

A preview at the game's rules confirms it uses d10s exclusively through its new GRIS system, promoting a fast-paced and strategic style. Players leverage abilities to assemble a handful of dice, typically from one to five d10s.

  • Rather than adding results together, participants select a single “result die” from the pool.
  • This dice is then compared against a set challenge number.
  • Rolling a natural 10 grants additional bonuses, such as increased harm or boosted support.

Engagements Focus On Tactical Placement and Situational Insight

Battles prioritize placement and situational awareness, reflecting the video games. Factors like cover, height advantage, or line of sight directly influence success chances. This mechanic seems built to favor coordination and clever tactics instead of raw numbers.

A Novel Health System

The way health is tracked introduces a compelling thematic twist. Agents have a wound threshold; taking heavy hits weakens their capabilities by decreasing the size of their dice pool.

  1. At critical condition, an operative collapses, but is not unconscious.
  2. They can still move and perform restricted acts, emulating the last stand common to many shooter games.
  3. Any agent in this state must roll on a trauma table, potentially gaining lingering conditions like trauma or crippling injuries.

A Ready-to-Play Adventure

A free Quickstart Guide is promised in the near future. It includes a ready-to-play introductory scenario called Ashes of Murray Hill. In this mission, players spearhead the search for a missing medical team and must thwart an assault by the violent Rikers gang, who have taken over that NYC neighborhood. Further information and the complete product lineup are expected to be detailed closer to the Kickstarter start date.
